Description
Katsushika Hokusai, said to have created more than 30,000 works during his artistic career some 260 years ago, continues to captivate people around the world with his compositions and use of color. Even today, his works stand out as remarkably innovative and exhibit an extraordinary breadth of styles and artistic expression.
In this special collaboration, illustrator iXima portrays Hatsune Miku within the art world of Katsushika Hokusai, creating a synergistic fusion of Hokusai's enduring artistic legacy and passion with Hatsune Miku's ever-innovative spirit.
Comment from iXima:
When I draw character illustrations, my main focus is to capture the essence of line art and translate objects and spaces into a two-dimensional plane. I feel that ukiyo-e represents both the origin of this approach and one of its most accomplished forms. I am deeply honored to have been given this opportunity to showcase collaborations alongside the great masterpieces and cultural traditions that have influenced me so deeply. Hokusai’s paintings have iconic expressions that define each work – whether it’s the waves in ”The Great Wave off Kanagawa” or the cherry blossoms in ”Fuji as Seen from Goten-yama in Shinagawa on the Tokaido”. These elements blend exceptionally well with Hatsune Miku, who can take on numerous forms when combined with different concepts. I truly enjoyed creating this work and hope that it serves as a gateway for viewers to explore both Hokusai’s and Miku’s worlds.
